Hello,
I am interested in the name CADWALLADER. My Great Grandfather was named
Cadwallader Thomas. He was born in Wales
in 1830. I have seen several people on the internet that have requested
information on the CADWALLADER name and also on the World Tree, but I have
not found any with the first name of Cadwallader. I find this interesting.
Do you know the meaning of the name? or where it originated from? Is there
a possibility that moving to America, some names were
switched around? I hope that isn't a dumb question. I just ask because it
is such a unique name and I know very little about
my family.
I would be interested in hearing from anyone on this name.
Some of the names I am researching are: THOMAS, MORRIS, JONES, RIGGS,
STOWITTS, DEVENDORF, WESSELS, BELLINGER,
RUNKLE OR RONKLE, CLARK, CANNIFF, LEYKER, etc.
Thanks for any information.
Glenda

Hi Laura
Laura, do you have knowledge of Donald P. CADWALLADER (c.1880-1940) &
Margaret Lillian McGARRY (1885-1950)?
Donald CADWALLADER, b. in either Niagara Falls, NY or in the province of
Newbrunswick, Canada, was the son of Prof. E. CADWALLADER & Mary FISHER.
Margaret Lillian McGARRY (1885-1950) was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario,
Canada and was the daughter of Dr. James McGARRY (1835-1903) & Amelia
KITCHEN (1857-1917).
Margaret CADWALLDER was living in Detroit, Michigan at the time of her
death
in 1950, and was buried in the White Chapel in Birmingham, Michigan.
Margaret was survived by two daughters, Mrs. Halley (CADWALLADER) ABEL of
Detroit, and Elizabeth "Betty" CADWALLADER of Birmingham, Michigan.
Margaret was artistic - an aunt of mine has an ornate bowl and an oil
painting of Margaret's.
Little other information is known of this line of my family. Any other
information would be greatly appreciated. Willing to share genealogical
proogs of Margaret
(McGARRY) CADWALLADER.
Thank you.
Mark McGarry
