Hello Cadle family researchers,
I'm a new subscriber, looking for any information about my
great-great-grandmother Emily Frances Cadle, who was born about
1833-1838 in either NC, AL, or maybe TN (in census records she is stated
to have been born in NC and AL, but there are several parallels between
her and the Cadle families in northeast TN that suggest they may have
been related). She married on 1 May 1853 in Tishomingo Co. MS to
Solomon Carpenter, who was born about 1827, a son of Moses and Lavina
(West) Carpenter. They had five children, the oldest named Melvina --
my great-grandmother, who married Elijah Carpenter. I have not been
able to find Emily Frances Cadle in the 1850 census, and since she died
relatively young, very little personal information about her has been
handed down through the family, so I have not been able to link her up
to one of the Cadle lines.
One possibility is that she was a daughter of the John Cadle, born
c1780-1790, who was in Franklin Co. AL (just across the state line from
Tishomingo Co. MS) in 1830 with wife born c1790-1800, a male born
c1800-1810, a female born c1800-1810, and the following children in the
household:
1. Female, born 1815-1820.
2. Male, born c1815-1820.
3. Male, born c1820-1825.
4. Female, born c1825-1830.
5. Female, born c1825-1830.
I have not found this John Cadle in Franklin Co. AL before or after this
1830 census record, however, he might be the John Cattle, born c1783 in
NC, with wife Tamsey (born c1782 in NC) who was in Pickens Co. AL in
1850 with children (all born in AL):
1.Anna Cattle, born c1831.
2.Milessen Cattle, born c1833.
3.Leonard Cattle, born c1834.
4.John Cattle, born c1836.
There is a possibility that Emily Frances was of Native American
ancestry, according to one descendant, but she has also been described
as a red-headed Irish girl.
As you can see, this line has been a challenge for me. Any help with it
would be greatly appreciated.
Happy Thanksgiving!
