Just a thought on Waddell Cade listed in the 1780 Tax list in Dobbs CO, NC.
Any comments on the subject are welcome.
Based on the birth dates, Waddell Cade could not be either John Waddell Cade
or James Waddell Cade because John was born in 1798 down in Cumberland CO, NC
and James was only 5 to 10 years old when the 1780 Tax roles were listed in
Dobbs CO owning land which is now in present day Greene CO, NC along with
Stephen Cade from Johnston CO (formerly Dobbs).
Waddell Cade is also listed in the Roster of Soldiers in the American
Revolution (Pierce's Register). Could Harley have missed him in Kinfolk?
Could this be who James and John were named Waddell after? Maybe this is the
line who stayed in Lenior CO, NC? I have also never heard of Thomas Cade who
was listed in the 1793 voter list in Glasgow CO, formerly Dobbs CO which was
named Greene CO in 1800.
I personally think this is a piece of the puzzle that is missing in all this.
With records being burned in Green and Lenior CO, NC we may never know but I
wonder just what has been checked? Harley states in Kinfolk that the present
day Cades from Lenior CO are thought to descend from Stephen Cade which would
make sense except based on his will and children his line is spoken for by
most of you on this list. Could Stephen Cade have had a brother named Waddell?
Thanks again
for your responses. - Ron
