HELP! I am researching Stephen Cade of Johnston CO, NC (also Dobbs, Lenior,
Wayne CO, NC and New Kent CO, VA). Could the relatives of this family help me
out with anything you know about his sons. I have his sons as 1.William
b.1735, 2. John b.1741 3. Drury b. 1741 and Robert b. 1737. I have eliminated
John based on his Will being connected to my Cade line still living in Lenoir
CO, NC. I believe that most of the Cades moved from this area to Cumberland,
Robeson and Bladen CO, NC. I believe Drury went to Georgia and some went to
Mississippi. One of Stephen Cade's sons had to leave a male Cade (grandson)
or Lenior CO, NC would not have the Cades there now and after Stephen Cade
died (abt. 1797) and his sons moved South.
The great-grandfather I am researching is Hardy Cade in Greene CO, NC b.1803
died April 29,1880. He lived on the border of Lenior CO, Dobbs CO (now Wayne
CO) North Carolina. My questions to this list are these:
1. I am most interested in William Cade Sr b. 1735 and his children (oldest
son of Stephen Cade SR b. 1715). The LDS lists another William b. 1770
married Mary Cade born 1775. LDS lists their children James b.1804, Nancy b.
1808 and Susan b. 1810. They fit perfectly with Hardy Cade b.1803. There is a
Mary Cade in the 1800 Greene CO, NC census. Does ANYONE claim these Cades?
Who were William's Parents? The LDS does not mention the county in NC so does
anyone know which County they were from in NC?
2. Can the relatives of the other sons of Stephen discount any of these
people listed above from their lines. Descendants of Drury, John and Robert
please respond.
3. Does anyone know the name of the Church were Stephen Cade and Mary
worshiped before they died? I was thinking maybe the "Free Will Baptist
Church" in Lenior also know as the "Sandy Bottom/Croom Meeting House" in
Lenior, anyone know?
4. I don't find a Will for Stephen Cade. He was wealthy land-wise so was
there an Estate record by chance in Lenior CO, NC where he died which
survived the courthouse fires and might anwser some of these questions?
Thanks for your time and sorry for the long message. I look forward to
hearing from you all - Ron
