Hi Mike,
Just been checking some info. for you. I really feel that the 2 other Cadden families you
mentioned who settled in Newark must be connected in some way. I am wondering would James
Cadden who married in Oldcastle in 1840 and John Cadden who had children Mary, Bernard and
Luke, be brothers from the Newcastle, Oldcastle, Co. Meath Caddens. There was a Luke
Cadden born in Oldcastle in 1818 and he shows up on the Griffith's Valuation for 1857
in Newcastle, Oldcastle, Co. Meath as farming land there. His father was also Luke Cadden
who died in 1852 and his mother Annie Cadden died in 1872. They also had another son Owen
Cadden who lived at Newcastle, Oldcastle. I think there's a connection here
somewhere.
I can't find ref. to your great grand uncle Patrick or aunts Julia or Maria but the
Elizabeth connection you found seems to fit. Can you just tell me from the marriage
details you got for Michael Cadden & Judith Smith, what parish is in the top left hand
corner? Also, for Elizabeth what parish was she born in? Thks, Julie.
