Hi all
I'm hoping that my gggrandmother can be linked in with some of the Caddens in this
post.
My great grandfather Luke Heery came out to Australia in 1874 from Tubrid? Oldcastle Co
Meath. His mother was Mary Cadden who married his dad James Heery in Oldcastle Co Meath
on 5/02/1840. Witnesses were Luke Cadden and Patrick Heery.
(James Heery originated from Castlerahan, Bailieboro, Co Cavan but settled in Tubrid-not
sure when) .
Luke (their oldest son) also known as William Luke was baptised at Mt Nugent , Co West
Meath on 29/01/1841 (Mother spelt Mary Caden ) Sponsors were Patrick Heery and Catherine
Gallagher.
I have heard that the Caddens kept a lolly shop in Oldcastle -but thats about it ! Any
feedback on the Caddens greatly appreciated.
The only other child of James Heery and Mary Cadden that I know the name of is Thomas
Heery, who I believe was the youngest of seven-all boys. Did any other Caddens marry into
the Heerey family ??
Luke did well in Australia , married Honorah Bateman whose family had come out from
ireland in the 1840's, became the manager of a very large goldmine in Tasmania and had
a huge family who spread across Australia and did all sorts of interesting things-my
grandfather James Cadden Heerey was the oldest.
Any info on the Caddens -or the Heerys from Tubrid much appreciated .
Kind regards and best wishes from melbourne !
Sue Heerey (luke added an e to his name for some unknown reason when he arrived here.)
