Hi Bill and all,
Just to muddy the waters a bit <G> ....
Samuel PACK, Esq. of Dublin, Ireland md. Jane, dau of Hans
CADDELL of Liverpool, Lancashire, England on 7 May 1750
at St. Anne's, Dublin. Hans CADDELL was a merchant and shipper,
and died bef April 1754.
Samuel PACK (died bef Aug 1769) & Jane CADDELL had
3 children: Samuel, b abt 1757, Major in the EIC army; Jane;
and Eleanor, md Philip CRAMPTON, Esq., Col of the Black Horse.
Jane PACK md. James LEA, Esq. of Dublin. They had 3 children:
William, Samuel Percy, and Mary.
Samuel Percy LEA md Mary dau of Thomas FALKINER, Esq.,
Captain of the 8th Foot. They had (by 1815) sons William Ponsonby
LEA and Samuel Percy LEA, who ended up with appointments as
"poor Knights of Windsor." I'm told their names were to be found
on a plaque in the Chapel. Don't know if that would have survived
the fire. :(
So, there are some more CADDELL & LEA ties, though on
the other side of the Pond.
Cheers,
Peggy
