Benjamin Caudell b. 1788 NC d. 1865 Banks co., Ga. m. Fannie
(Let me say here that there is a strong tie to the Adams - Franklin - later Banks Co.,
Caudles/Caudells
were found with the Adams in another North Ga. county - Elbert Co.)
David Caudell b. 1820 Ga., d. 1908 Banks Co., Ga. m. Sarah Crow
Asa Milton Caudell b. 1857 Franklin Co., Ga. d. 1935 Banks Co., Ga. m. (2) Mollie
robinson
There is a Benjamin Cadle who was in the old wars, b. 1788 Surry, N.C., enlisted in
Tennessee, who fits the occupation and description of my Cadle. He had a map of his
territory, granted to him in Mo. for service in the wars, sent to him in Jefferson,
Jackson Co., Ga. in 1819. This county adjoined Franklin where my Benjamin Caudle/Caudell
was living at the time. I have found no evidence of another Benjamin Cadle/Caudle/Caudell
that age.
Does anyone know of the above Benjamin Cadle?
By the way, I know the law in Ga. pertaining to cemetaries is very specific. We have two
family cemetaries in Banks Co., Ga. and the law has protected us by saying that plot of
land belongs to descendants of those buried there. Not only are we entitled to own the
plot, but we are granted a right-of-way to the property and access at any time. Plus here
in DeKalb Co., Ga., across the street from me they tried to build homes where there were
several graves. The law stated permissiion had to be granted by the owners to move the
graves to a suitable location. otherwise, there could be no construction on the property.
I'll bet a phone call to the Ala. State Attorney General's office could clarify
Ala. law. I hope it protects the graves.
