Back when...I had the following record on Andrew CADDEL that m. Jean HENDERSON:
On 2 Apr 1751, Andrew CADDLE witness land transaction, John Tyre of Albermarle
County, VA to John Williamson of Spotsylvania County, VA, at £16 current for 100
acres, St George Parish, Spotsylvania County. Witness: Robert Huddleston,
William Mathews, Andrew CADDLE, Edward Land. County records, volume 1, page 184.
I found another record on the other persons who witnessed that deed:
4 Aug 1752, John LEA of Orange Co., NC and Anne, his wife, to Thomas McNEAL of
St George Parish, Spotsylvania cO., vA £24 current, for 185 acres whereon sd
McNEAL now dwells and formerly being a patent granted George CARTER and given by
sd CARTER to the sd John LEA, his son-in-law, by deed of Gift. Sd land joining
the lands of Humphrey BELL of London, John WILLIAMSON, Robert HUDDLESTON, Col.
John WALLER and Richard COLEMAN, etc. No witnesses.
Note: John LEA came to Orange Co., NC in 1752 the year Orange Co., NC was formed
(from Granville Co., NC, in 1746). I am told by "ssandralea(a)aol.com" that a John
LEA (b. 1735, VA) was the plantation owner that owned "Kunta Kinta" of
"Roots" fame.
John LEA is the uncle of Major LEA who Andrew CADDEL worked with on land
surveying in Orange Co., NC (1754-1762) and the John LEA (brother of James LEA,
father of Major LEA) who Andrew CADDEL was co-executor to his estate,
"John Lea's will dated Caswell Co. NC. Aug 1778
proven Sep. Court 1782 gives to sons Elliott Lea, 1
negro boy; son Edmond Lea 228 acres on both sides of
South Hico Creek, & 1 negro girl; son Carter Lea,
242 acres on both sides of Richland Creek including
plantation whereon I now live, 1 negro boy; to minor son
Owen Lea 243 acres on both sides of South Hico Creek, 1
negro woman; to dau Phebe Lea 161 acres both sides of
South Hico, 1 negro woman & 1 negro man, live stock,
furniture etc provided she keeps and supports her sister
Milley Lea; to dau Betty Lea 400 acres I purchased of
Zachariah Lea, & 1 negro girl; Land on which Robert
Mitchell lives to be deeded to him or his heirs or an
order for 245 acres as in a plot #7; all the remainder
to be conveyed to William Lea and John Lea Sr., (son of
James Lea and Anne Herndon) according to plan #6 on
their paying for same according to contract & no else;

ANDERSON, BURWELL, CARTER, COCHRAN, GREEN, HENDERSON, HUDDLESTON, JOHNS, LEA,
LEWIS, McNEILL(McNEAL), SARGENT, SCOOGINS, STANFIELD, TAPLEY, TAYLOR, THOMAS,
TYUS, VANHOOK, WILLIAMSON and WOMACK.
Most were related (intermarried) and all came from the Tidewater Area Counties
of VA. Primarily the early HENDERSON and LEA were from Hanover (New Kent/King &
Queen) Co., VA. It is noted that many of these were named in wills, deeds or
other documents with Andrew CADDEL.
In the migration to Orange Co., NC in the early 1750s, all these families
(covering several generations) came from the following Tidewater area of VA...

Brunswick Co., VA - formed 1720 from Prince George/Surry Cos., VA
Orange Co., VA - formed 1734 from Spotsylvania Co., VA
Amelia Co., VA - formed 1734 from Prince George/Brunswick Cos., VA
Augusta Co., VA - formed 1738 from Orange Co., NC
Louisa Co., VA - formed 1742 from Hanover Co., VA
Albemarle Co., VA - formed 1744 from Louisa Co., VA
Lunenburg Co., VA - formed 1746 from Brunswick Co., VA
