Hi Diane,
Thanks for responding. It's always great to hear from another Caddell family
researcher.
Don't be put off by the spelling of Caddell. I've seen it spelled many ways.
For example, in the 1871 Canadian federal census, I found my Caddells under
the spelling "Kadle". I'm convinced that the census takers of those days
were only about one notch above illiterate and simply recorded names the way
they sounded.
However, there doesn't appear to be a connection between my Caddells and
yours. My Caddells all reported in the census records over the years that
their racial origin was Scottish, not English. Your Cadles emigrated about
1913 and mine in the early 1800's. Nova Scotia is not a very big place but
Hants Co. is on the Bay of Fundy and not exactly close to Halifax and Digby.
So it was a good attempt but there doesn't appear to be a link.
Thanks again and Happy Hunting !
George,
Toronto

Subject: [CADDELL] CADDELL Caddell Family, Hants County, Nova Scotia
Hi George,
I have a distant cousin from Nova Scotia. Her grandmother was a Cadle
from Long Crendon, Buckinghamshire, England. Her family emigrated to NS
in abt 1913. The places my cousin mentions are Halifax and Digby. Any
connection?
Thank you. Diane in Pennsylvania
