Hello All
My parents and I and another Caddell descendant visited the cemetery about
4 years ago. However, the stones are no longer visible. The present
owners of the land decided that it was the perfect location for their new
home and so had the stones turned down, covered with plastic and top soil
hauled in to cover the yard part and lots of gravel to form the drive. Now
doesn't that make you sick!!!!! We talked with the woman and man who live
there but no...........they did not photograph the stones nor copy down the
information from them. We also talked with a woman who lived down the road
as a child and she remembers the stones very well and playing about the
area when young. The area is high and overlooks the river as I recall. I
have some photos of the area--but the stones are lost. Earlene

Hello ALL:
Some of you had said that they had seen the following CADDEL cemetery in
Etowah Co., AL. My question to ya'll ... did anyone ever photograph it?
Charlene Simpson, Ashville Museum and Archives, provided information
from "Little Known Burial Sites and Cemeteries in Etowah County,
AL," by W. A. Lewis. A Caddell cemetery is located north of Gadsden
off US Highway 411 - turn right on Princeton Avenue to Tidmore Bend
Road, then 1 mile to Hooks Lake Road, turn right and go .6 miles to
Indian Camp Road, left .4 mile where the road ends in Mike Lasseter's
yard. According to the book the following were buried there - Andrew
Caddel (died 1825), Jean (Jane) Henderson Caddell (no dates) wife of
Andrew, Andrew Henderson Caddell (died 1855) son of Andrew and Jean
Caddell, and Susan Green Caddell (died 1867) wife of Andrew Henderson
Caddell. The cemetery was located there on 7 Aug 1963.
