Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb

I recently stumbled on the following site URL for county map of Alabama.
When it come up it will ask for a user name and password. Do not put
anything in the blanks. Click with mouse pointer on the "X" in the upper
right corner of the box. It may take several clicks before the County
Lists come up (it took me 4 clicks). This will bypass the user ID and
password. The list will say "Directory of /maps/".
Scroll down list to the county you wish and click on the *.html file
name.
They give you a good map of the main roads and features in the county,
etc.
Happy hunting.
