Subject: Re: Hensley CABLER
Hello, Cullen. I may have a few more items for you.
As you wrote in your list of ancestors, Hensley was a son of Frederick
Cabler, the Revolutionary pensioner. Frederick is said to have married
twice, but I do not have confirmation of his wives' names.
In case you were not sure of Frederick's family history, here is a brief
outline:
Generations 1-3: Kapplers, residents of Wurttemberg, listed in Before
Germanna, a multi-volume work by Zimmerman & Cerny
Generation 4: Hans Frederick Kabler, the Germanna immigrant, who was
married to Barbara _____.
Generation 5: Christopher Cabler, born about 1725 in Spotsylvania (later
Orange, then Culpeper) County, VA; died in Rockingham County, NC, probably
before 1790. His wife was Mary _____.
Generation 6: Frederick Cabler, our mutual ancestor, the Revolutionary
pensioner.
Generation 7: Hensley Cabler, your ancestor.
Hensley probably was one of the two males between 16 and 26 in the 1800
census of Frederick's household in Rockingham County, NC. If so, he would
have been born between 1775-1784 in Guilford (later Rockingham) County,
NC.
He came with his father, Frederick, to Davidson County, TN, in 1806.
[Pension application of Frederick gives date]
1812 tax list, Davidson County, TN. Capt. Mullen's militia company
(listed
in order):
634, Harris Cabler
635, John Nichols
636, Solomon Holder
637, John Goodman
638, William Bumpass
639, James Davis
640, Hensley Cobler, Sr.
641, Hensley Cobler, Jr.
642, Thompson Ozburn
Your Hensley did not have sons or nephews old enough to be taxed, so he
must
have been Hensley, Jr. There is no other record in Davidson County
of a
Hensley, Sr. As Frederick, the Revolutionary veteran, was not anywhere in
the 1812 list, I have wondered if his full name could have been Frederick
Hensley Cabler, and he could have been the Hensley, Sr., referred to.

4 Oct 1813. Hansley [sic] Cobler enlisted as Pvt in militia infantry
under
Col. T McCrary & Capt. Isaac Patton. He was to receive 15 days
travel
allowance of $1.95 for 15 days at $0.13 per day rations. [TN State

From the 1820-1830 census records, looks as though your Enoch Hensley has
2
brothers and 3 sisters who are not yet identified.
Forgive this laborious way of sending information, but as I wrote you
before, I still have not transferred my Cabler records from MAC and
Personal
Ancestral File to my new PC and Master Genealogist.
