JULIA ELIZABETH SHOTWELL
Born January 21, 1840; died February 6, 1919; that tells the

time that Mrs. John W. Shotwell abided on earth as a blessing
to many,

Richmond since
early childhood, coming from Michigan. where she was born, and
she was
a daughter of the late Rev. Joseph Devlin and wife Sarah
(Cable) Devlin.
Rev. Devlin was among the first ministers to preach the gospel
in Ray county.
On the 14th day of February 1861, she was married to Mr. John
W. Shotwell,
a prominent lawyer, and to them seven children were born. The
six who survive
are Mrs. G. L. Mann of Sapulpa, Okla.; William Shotwell of
Salina, Kans.;
Horace Shotwell, Norborne; John Shotwell, Ben E. Shotwell and
Miss Lizzie
Shotwell, Richmond. One brother, Horace Devlin, and an adopted
daughter,
Miss Mary Joy, also survive.

Wynn, assisted
by Rev. F. L. Alexander, and burial followed in the Shotwell
cemetery.
