hello ladystardust,
yes indeed you have what I believe to be the right family! It
has taken me a long time to figure this on out as my dad
Alexander hepburn (born 13th march 1904 in Aberdeen) was
illegitamate and and always told me that his mothers name was
Mary. However, on his birth cert it states that her name is
jessie kelman. My father married a isabella ross in 1928 when
he was 24 and on the marriage cert it states his mothers name
as mary, and his father as hugh hepburn. This threw me a bit, as
the mothers names did not match, but on the marriage cert it
stated that her maiden name was kelman, so I assume she used
both names.Hugh hepburn married a jessie aiken but did not, i
think, father her children.I think my father was definatly
brought up with his father as he told me that he was taught to
play the bag pipes by his father who served in the highland
light infantry for 22 years asa pipe major. My father played
them very well.I would love to hear more from you if you have
the time, you !
are the only reply I have received in all this time.Anthing
you can tell me would be very much apreciated!! kind regards, Nora.
