In regard to the genealogy books recently being discussed, one was
published by Marie Cable Buckingham of Gary TN, "Decendants of Casper
and Elizabeth (Baker) Cable 1755 thru 2000", and the other was
published by Bryan Keith Aldridge of Marion, NC, " Casper Cable and
Descendants 1755-1990".
I have copy #29 of 250 that Marie published in July 2001. I believe all
were sold within two-three months. I had understood that she was going
to attempt to publish an addendum but I have not spoken to her for quite
some time now and I don't think that task has been accomplished. Her
publication contains 1007 pages and is quite an extensive and detailed
book that required a super effort on her part and all of her friends who
helped her.
I also have one of the last copies of Bryan's book which was published
in 1991. His book contains about 421 pages and is also quite extensive.
Both books cover the same groud but I beleive that Maries contains more
information.
There is also a copy of a Cable genealogy in the Library of Congress
that covers another family which I do not believe to be related to the
Casper lineage.
My ancestors came from the area between "Grandfather Mountain" in NC and
"Roan Mountain" in TN and although I have spent years attempting to
connect them to the Casper tree, I have not been successful, even with
the assistance provided by both of the previous books. I have
researched all relative census and other public documents that are
available at a distance and have come up against the perverbial brick
wall. I guess I need to place myself on the ground in the area of
interest. Alternatively my research leads me to conclude that at least
3 different lines of Cables were in my area of interest at the same
time.
Sorry to bend your collective ears.
John F. Cable
