Hello John,
Would you know if there is a soldier by the name of Isaac Phineas, listed with the
Regiment of Major Frederick Adolphus Von Riesdsel, who would have landed in Three
Rivers/Trois Rivieres, in Quebec in or about 1776. This information appears in some Quebec
Genealoogical resource Centres.
I have done research on the Regiment, and on how the forces were gathered in Europe to
help out on the American and Canadian fronts. I have not been able to find names related
to this Regiment. In addition, perhaps this I. Phineas returned to Germany or Austria, or
was killed in North America.
I have another Isaac, Heinemam Phineas as an ancestor. He has nothing to do with the
military. He was of Jewish-Portuguese ancestry, born & educated in London, England,
and came to Quebec in the late 1790's. I can trace his family after his arrival.
Your help would be much appreciated. Thanking you,
Anne - anne.mc(a)sympatico.ca
