Limestone, NY is in southwest New York State, right on the border between PA
and NY. It's between Olean, NY and Bradford, PA.
My Zeliff family descends from Pieter Zeliff b. Abt. 1706 on Staten Island,
NY, and his wife Blandina Van Pelt is traced back to Anneke Jans and Domonie
Everhardus Bogardus (Trinity Church, NYC in the 1630's). The Zeliffs are
believed to have been French Huguenots. My ineage goes
Pieter/Daniel/Solomon/Solomon II/Peter/Amelia (my great grandmother who
married Wm. H. Cables). The first four of Peter's children were born in
Northumberland, PA, the rest in Limestone/Carrollton, NY. At least the Peter
Zeliff (& his children) lived in Great Valley/Limestone, NY -- unknown why
they settled there. Peter's ancestor Daniel was born on Statten Island,
NY, and died in Newlark NJ, and he was married to Hannah Clark, and Daniel's
son Solomon was born in New Jersey.
Send me an email directly at kbconlon(a)aol.com if you want more info in
Zeliff.
Re William H. Cables, I wonder if your John and Millie Cables had any other
children besides Daniel. or if John nad any siblings. Sure hope you can
help. This is the best clue I've had yet.
Thanks for the response.
