Hello, This is my first time on a list-serve. My sister and I have just started
researching. We began researching the Spencer family and have changed gears after finding
that 4 Spencers were married to Cables.
This is a brief description of who I am.
Samuel Cablewas the bother of David A. Cable (my G grandfather) who was married to Laura
Toombs Cable b. May 1868, Morgan Cty., d.1890. probably in Camden County, MO
Gordia Spencer is my Grandmother, b. July 1890. Camden Cty, MO, d 1986 Morgan Cty. MO,
I will have exact dates after Memorial Day.
Zelia, Cordelia, Goldie, Luther and Porter, and John were 1/2 siblings to Gordia-
Eltha, Lizzie, Ola, and , Charlie, Dorsey, Bland, Blake were Gordia's full sisters and
brothers: David Allen Cable and Laura Isabelle Toombs Cable b. 1868 in Morgan county
(pronounced Toms) were their parents.
(There were more siblings, I will have dates and more names from the family bible after
meeting with my Aunt memorial day)
Alexander Spencer b. Dec. 19, 1883, Camden Cty, Died July 1, 1954 in Clay Cty.
married Gordia Cable Spencer b: July 1890. d:1985 in Morgan Cty, MO
Samuel Cable (my GG uncle) married Maude Spencer -(sister of Alexander)
Zelia Cable (1/2 sister to Gordia) married Jim Spencer (brother of Alexander)
Cordelia Spencer (sister to Alexander) married Porter Cable (1/2 brother to Gordia)
My Aunt says that the Spencer and Cable families had adjoining farms- I guess they
didn't get very far from home. They lived around "Iron Town" also called
Osage Iron Works. A rather "rough" place, I understand. This town was flooded
by Bagnell Dam and now is part of the Lake of the Ozarks.
I can provide more dates for most of these people if there is interest....
Thank You,
Laura Spencer Hiller
