MRS. MARY GEORGE
DIES AT ELDON, SEPT. 8, 1944
Mrs. Mary George passed away
at her home on Mill Street in Eldon,
Sept. 8, 1944. She had been quite
ill for several weeks.
The body lay in state at the Kays
Funeral Parlor until funeral services
which were conducted at 2 p. m.
Sunday in Freedom church near Linn
Creek. Rev. Virgil Smith of Brumley
was in charge. Interment was made
in Freedom Cemetery.
Mrs. Mary Jane Cable George
was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Peter Cable and was born at Ironton
Sept. 22, 1862. At the time of her
death, she was almost 82 years old.
When 21 years of age she married
Joseph M. George. To them four
children were born. Two sons passed
away in infancy. Her husband passed
away June 20, 19243. She is survived
by one son, LeRoy George, of Eldon,
one daughter, Mrs Ann Cartier, also of
Eldon. She is also leaves two sisters,
Mrs. Julia Sparry of Oklahoma and Mrs.
Lena George of Preston, Mo. and many
other relatives and friends.
While a young woman she became
a member of the Christian churcha and
has held to that faith throughout her life.
She lived in Linn Creek until about
15 years ago when she came to Eldon
to make her home. She had many
friends and in Camden County, where
she spent most of her life.
Mrs. George will be sadly missed in
her home. She was a good citizen and
enjoyed a wide circle of friends and ac-
quaintances. Her life was spent in the
service of others. She loved her home
and family and was a good Christian
mother
