Sorry not to get in touch with you earlier, but I have had serious health problems.
The book of which I spoke is not for sale (at least this one isn't), it is a reference
book in our local library.
Where do you live?
I have spokem with a number of people who have not been able to find a written record of
his land award, but he married in Randolph County, so I always thought that must have been
where he terminated his service- may not be. Ancestry has a new search section for pension
applicants for the Revolutionary War, but I have not been able to find his name. I have
also assumed that he joined in the prison
where he was sent after being captured in Trenton, NJ.
Many Hessian soldiers were changing their allegiance from England, for, after all, it was
not their country they were risking their lives for; so I don't think it was long
after being captured that they were given the offer. He also got a land grant in TN when
he came to Johnson Co. (perhaps it was Carter County back then), so they were considered
well-
to-do for the times.
Re-reading your message has made me interested again in searching for this record. I
found his name on the muster
lists of the Colonials at Cowpens.
