Subject: Cheeseman emigration to Illinois
Surname: Cheeseman
-------------------------
Robert, I located George (1814-1892)Cheeseman in the "History
of Carroll
County, Illinois: containing a history of the county..."
c1878. There is
very short biographical sketches for George, indicating he
came to Carroll
County, Illinois in 1858.
George was married to Caroline Fowle, and had 10 living
children: Alfred
(named for my gr/grandfather?), George, Caroline, Robert,
Joseph, Elizabeth,
Henry, Elijah, Esther and Charles.
George (1814) and Robert (1819) are both in the 1870 U.S.
Federal Census
for Carroll County. But not in the 1850 U.S. Federal Census
for Illinois
that I can locate.
I am descendent from Alfred's son Robert D. Cheeseman's
daughter Ellen
Jane Cheeseman Cable.
