This email is about the Cobole family who were Catholic German miners who
came to work the mines in northwestern NJ.
Dear Dave
I ordered the NJ Catholic Church Baptism Records from 1759 to 1781 by Janet
Drumm Dirnberger, LDS film 2055304, Item 5.
And guess what your Waibl family is there. It must have been a community of
German Catholics working the mines in Ringwood, Long Pond, Charlottesburg.
Have you seen these records?
The only bp mentioned concerning your Waibl family is
Conrad b 14 and bp 19 Mar 1766 at Ringwood parents were Charles and Susanna
Weible, witnesses or sponsors Conrad Webb and Katherine Demuth.
The following other sponsors or witnesses besides Charles and Susanna are
listed in other bps.
Ann Catherine Weible
Margaret Weiblin
Conrad Weible
The family names that they are sponsors for are
Call
Dentz
May
Fichter
Welch.
And guess what else? There is families named Cobole related in bp with other
families including Weible.
I have had a family who were miners with the name Cable, Cabols, Cabals,
Cabels who first appear in Orange County on border of NJ in 1850 census. I
think my Cable is Cobole.
Daniel, Mary and Millicent Cable were orphans living with the Ridner and
Cabals families all under 10 years old. Daniel Cables Civil War pension
record names his parents as John Cabals and Millie Hall.
Do you know anything about the Germans who came to US to work the mines of
Ringwood and Long Pond and Charlottesburg? Has anything been written about
them?
Names in index - they are not all from Ringwood, Charlottesburg and Long Pond
but from all over the state.
