Hello,
This may not be much help to you, but....
My ancestor Henry Cable was from Shenandoah Co., VA. He was there in 1785
with one child and in 1790 Ross Twp., Allegheny Co., PA.
I believe his surname was once spelled CABELL (pronouced Cab'-l; like in
taxi cab). The surnames CABLE and CABELL are very popular in Virginia. It
seems like a lot of the lines went to places like Kentucky. Believe it or
not there were CABELLs/CABLEs descended from Pocahontas! I've known about
this for awhile. I just got back yesterday from the National Genealogical
Society in Sacramento, CA. I saw a book for purchase on the 'Descendants of
Pocahontas' and saw the name in there!
Anyway, something to ponder. I believe the surname CABLE and CABELL are
interchangeable (related).
Good luck.
Bev in Calif.
