Hi Hazel,
I just had a thought and looked in the British Vital Records Index, version
2, and discovered that it covered Aylmerton, Norfolk!
Thomas CABLE was bap in December 1832 (no date given), Aylmerton, Norfolk,
son of Alice CABLE.
Alice CABLE was born 21 Jan 1814; bap 31 Jan 1814, Aylmerton, daughter of
John and Anne CABLE. I can let you have the rest of their children if you
would like them - there are about nine altogether.
John and Anne are John CABLE and Anne STOKES who married on 4 Dec 1804 at
Aylmerton, Norfolk.
There unfortunately appear to be two possible John CABLES:
CABLE, John
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 14 Apr 1779
Christening Date: 18 Apr 1779 Recorded in: Aylmerton, Norfolk, England
Father: Robert CABLE
Mother: Lucy
CABLE, John
Gender: Male
Birth Date: 17 Oct 1779
Christening Date: 18 Oct 1779 Recorded in: Aylmerton, Norfolk, England
Father: Thomas CABLE
Mother: Elizabeth
Alice CABLE appears never to have married, and didn't die until 1902.
In 1861, she was in Erpingham Union Workhouse, described as "Almswoman,
formerly Fieldworker".
In 1871, she was staying with her sister Martha as follows:
1871 census
Tuckers Street,
Cromer,
Norfolk
Martha DAVIES, Head, Mar, 59, Sailor's Wife, Aylmerton, Norfolk
Mary DAVIES, Dau, 15, Cromer, Norfolk
John DAVIES, Grandson, 4, Cromer, Norfolk
Maria DAVIES, Granddau, 2, Cromer, Norfolk
Alice CABEL, Sister, 52, Aylmerton, Norfolk
In 1881, Alice was an inmate at West Beckham Union Workhouse, Norfolk, age
67, and Alice was still there in 1891, described as "Chair Woman" (they may
have meant Char Woman, perhaps?).
In 1901, Alice was an 86 year old Pauper and was back at Erpingham Union
Workhouse. All very sad.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes,
Sue
