Subject: Ancestors of James Degarmo (1846 [or 1848?] - 1926 [
or 1910?])
Hi, Bill.
The subject James Degarmo was the son of James Degarmo, born
16Oct,1814 (per
my uncle) and died 21Jun,1862, and Adiline (my uncle's
spelling) Cable, born
08Apr,1819, per my uncle, and died 15Feb,1911 (I also have a
1915 date, where
I got it, I don't know).
James, the father, was the son of Albert Degarmo, born
29Jan17?? (per the
family Bible), and died 06Jul,1828 (per my uncle), and Uphany
(in the Bible
it looks like "Upamy") Lindsay, born 04Jan,17?? (per the
family Bible) and
died 20Sep,1843 (per information supplied by yourself).
Albert Degarmo and
Uphany were married 14May,1807 in Northumberland by the Rev.
Armstrong (per
the family Bible).
Anna Elizabeth Degarmo (21Apr,1850 - 17Jun,1942) was the
sister of James, the
subject of this memo. She was my Great-grandmother. She
married Edwin Teal
(19Jan,1850 - 04Nov,1910) on 25Dec,1870. One of their 2 sons,
James Henry
Teal, was my Grandfather.
James Henry Teal (11Sep,1876 - 28Sep,1958) married Clara
Gertrude Purcell
(28Apr,1877 - 09Oct,1976), of Halifax, Nova Scotia. The
youngest of their
sons, James Frederick Teal, was my father. Albert Henry Teal,
the oldest of
their sons, is the uncle referred to above.
Per information in an article written by my uncle, Anna
(Degarmo) Teal, must
have been some lady. She was a member of the Rebecca Lodges
of Vanlue, OH
and Findlay, OH; she was active in the Women's Christian
Temperance Union of
Hancock County, OH; and she carried the flag at the head of
the Hancock
County contingent in the U.S. 100th anniversary parade in
Columbus, OH.
As an aside, Adiline Cable's family surname is spelled "Kable"
in the
above-mentioned article; although when she is mentioned, her
name is spelled
"Cable."
I thought I sent a copy of a page of Albert's and Uphany's
family Bible and a
copy of a newspaper article about Anna. If not, I'll be happy
to do so.
And, I am willing to send a copy of my uncle's article, if you
are interested.

Subject: Honeycutt in NC
Surname: Honeycutt, Cable, Ensor, Burton
-------------------------
My great great grandfather, William B. (Burton?) Honeycutt was
born NC,
probably Cabarrus County, about 1830. His mother's given name
was Sarah
(possibly Ensor?). His father's name may have been Michael,
which I am
trying to verify. In 1849-50, William settled in Barren
county, KY with
his mother and the woman who would become his wife in 1853,
Mary Cable.
Mary had at least two brothers, Jefferson and Francis. William
and Mary
had 11 children. Would love to find link to Honeycutts in NC.
Please help.
