Hi Sarah Jane:
I found my scanned pages of 2 Centuries of Brothersvalley Church of the
Brethern. There are 2 pages, with the Cabel family on it. They are a picture
of the page. Want me to send them to you? It may take a while to load
when getting your email. I wanted to ask first.

Sarah-
My local bookseller check for me and found one unsold copy available in the
US.
Thats right.......one copy! So I borrowed a copy thru interlibrary loan, it
took 6 days to have it delivered to my town library. If you are not familiar
with interlibrary loan, it is a wonderful and usually free service. Just go
to your library and ask for just about any book that you want to borrow.
Provide the library with the whole title and author and ISBN number if you
have it.
The title is Two Centuries of Brothersvalley - Church of the Brethren by H.
Austin Cooper.

Hi Sarah Jane:
I was going through my marked emails, and came across this one. No, I am
not aware of the Smokey Mt. Cable family that lived in Cades Cove.
If you have any information on that family, would you post it to the list, or
to The Cable Page that Lynne Canterbury is working on?
Maybe we can help others.
Thanks,
Rosemary

I've been to the cemetery and have permission from the land
owners to go
down there any time. The road in north of the K-Ten Tower.
You can take
the second road south of the river bridge going west. This
road should be
cut off by a gate. If you pull over, don't block the gate.
>From the gate,
about 1/4 mile south along the fence role in a grove of
trees. If you like
you could speak to a Mrs. Jenkins. She works at the Byng
School and would
be more than happy to take you there or make arrangements for
her husband to
do so. I can't remeber her first name. They live less than a
mile from the
cemetery. The cemetery is really over grown. If you visit
and can't find
it, you can give me a call at 332-3143 and I'll try to help
you further

Hi Sally, good to hear from you again.
You're absolutely correct. Jacob (#3 on my tree for Christina Ripley)
was the son of Philip (my #1). #2 Abraham should be deleted and the
rest re-numbered. I knew better, guess I just got tired.
Apologies to everyone.
Betty Cable Perry
Hello Betty,
I received an email from you via the CABELL-L(a)rootsweb.com. You are
researching John Martin Cable. I'm not related to this Cabell line but the
Col. John Cabell, son of Dr. William Cabell. And I looked over your email
carefully due to the mention of John Cabel(l). But I also found this
genealogical line went into the Croyle family.
Marcia Croyle of Tempe, AZ wrote a book, "The Cabell and Related Families of
West Virginia." Her married name is Croyle. I do not know if she would be
related or her or her ex-husband. On my web page is an order form for her
book, but this form has her address as well:
http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/f/r/e/Myra-E-Freeman/
Thought this might help you or Christina Ripley.
MElaine
Betty, you did some great researching, and I think there is excellent
data in this information except I don't believe this Jacob is the son
of Abraham. I think he is the son of Philip and Mary Brede (Brady).
Sources: "Two Centuries of Brothersvalley," P. 150 and the index from
Robert L. Cable that you sent me. In other words, I think
the information is fine if we delete Abraham and his wife from the
picture.
I think it is impossible for John Martin Cable born about 1749 to be
the grandson of Abraham, born 1729.

I can help on this, but it took some digging. First, I went to the
index of a rather thorough Cable Genealogy drawn up by Robert L. Cable
of Lewisberry, PA. Found a George Pringle who m. a Catherine Cable.
Her father was a John; no other info on John.
I went to Familysearch and found that John Martin Cable was b. c. 1749
in Franklin, PA, the s/o of Jacob Cable and Mary Walker. That put
John
Martin in the same time period as Christina.
I next went to Genforum and found two queries about John Martin and
Christina. (1) dated 9/22/99 from Russell Andrews. (2) dated 6/21/98
from Joel Ettinger. Joel listed the following data for Christina Mary
(or Mary Christina [his remark]) :
b. 10/30/1752 possibly in PA; m. John Martin Cable in Bedford Co.;
had
twelve children (my above-mentioned index lists only one); Christina
died c. 1823 in Montgomery Co., OH.
I have previously corresponded with Joel; if you want to check his
data
with him, his EMail is ettinger(a)connix.com
I believe that the following is the tree for Christina Ripley.
1. Philip Cable b. c. 1700-1710, emigrated from Rotterdam arriving in
9/1732 and settling in Germantown with wife Mary Brede and children
Barbara and Abraham.
2. Abraham (b. c. 1729) s/o Philip, m. Mary Magdaline.
3. Jacob (d. 1816) s/o of Abraham, m. Mary Walker (b. 5/24/1793).
4. John Martin (b. c. 1749, Franklin, PA) s/o of Jacob, m. Christina
Mary Ripley (b. 10/30/1752, possibly in PA; d. c. 1823, Montgomery
Co.,
OH.)
5. Catherine Cable, d/o of John Martin and Christina, m. George
Pringle.
6. George Pringle (8/16/1789-1880) s/o of Catheine, m. Catharine Paul
(1802-1861).
7. Susan Pringle (8/18/1839-11/27/1925) d/o of George, m. Daniel David
Seibert (4/11/1837-4/5/1916).
8. Alice (Seibert) Sybert (7/1872-
3/19/1918) d/o of Susan, m. William Logan Hildebrand
(10/19/1865-12/4/1940).
9. Nellie Grace Hildebrand (3/10/1889-
6/14/1971) d/o of Alice, m. 1/8/1908, Clyde Webster Croyle (9/8/1886-
4/8/1983).
10. Wallace Henry Croyle (b. 12/12/1915)
s/o of Nellie, m. 6/16/937 Leora Erma Jennings.
Sincerely,
Betty Cable Perry

Thank you Sally for sending me the children of Christian CABLE, I greatly
appreciate your help. It confirms that Christian is not the father of my
Abraham. My search continues!
As for Catherine being shown as Mary Catherine in some records and Catherine
in others can be explained. Mary or Maria was used as a baptismal name. She
may have been baptized as Mary Catherine, but she was known as Catherine.
This was a common practice.
Thank you again Sally!

Hello Cable List:
(RE: The Cable Family
http://www.geocities.com/l_canterbury/Cable.html)
I was thinking.....It would be nice if each member would
post a
short (or long) message on Lynne Canterbury's Cable page.
She has a page called "Families", where we could post an
outline of the
family we are researching
http://www.geocities.com/l_canterbury/CableFam.html
or, a page called "Brickwall" where you can post your last
know Cable
relative.
http://www.geocities.com/l_canterbury/CableBricks.html
There is some information already posted, to give you an
idea of what
I mean.
I know a few of you out there are researching the same
family as I am,
but, sometimes I can't remember who.
I would like to post some info. on the Abraham, Jr & Eliza
Reese Cable family
from PA, some day soon.
Thanks,
Rosemary

Hello-
Abraham CABLE is well documented in Two Centuries of
Brothersvalley.
He is the son of Philip (died 1780 and is buried near York)
and Maria KABLE
of Germantown who settled there in 1732.
Abraham CABLE -1732-1805 - and his wife Mary Magdalene
Unknown, had 8
children one of whom was Christian.
Christian was born 1766 and died 1828 and is buried in Cable
Cemetery
Brotherton, Somerset County. Christian married Mary Catherine
Unknown
1770-1824.
Does anyone descend from this line or have the names of the
eight children
born to Christian and Mary Catherine CABLE? Or, can tell me
where I might
find the birth records.
I am searching for the parents of Abraham COBLE/CABLE, born 14
Aug 1790 in
PA. and died 5 Oct 1865 in Elkhart, Indiana and is buried in
Yellowcreek
Cemetery.
This Abraham named his first child, a daughter, Catherine and
his first son
Christian. I pay close attention to naming patterns of
families and Abraham's
children's names fit nicely, naming Catherine after his mother
and Christian
after his father.
Many of Abraham and Christina's eleven children married into
Brethren
families; WELTY, FIKE, BRUCHART, RARICK and NICEWANDER.
Has my long search ended? Have I found the parents of
Abraham? Any help
would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Jean
