Henderson,
Patterson
-------------------------
I am also interested in the knowing the parents etc for
Mahulda Cable Delosier.
My GGG Grandmother was Hester Ann Cable Scoby who is buried at
Moses Clark
Cemetery at Climax Springs, Camden Co. She was born July 1,
1825, census
records show various states, i.e., Ky, IN, OH. She was married
to Wm. H.
Scoby in 1848 in Hendricks County, Indiana. Sometime after
1850 they moved
to Woodson County, Kansas. Wm. served in the Union army during
the Civil
War and sometime after 1870 moved to the Camden County area.
He is buried
at Cleveland (Old Yeater) Cemetery, Osceola, MO. One of their
daughters
was Malisa (many spellings on this). She had a child Alice
Scoby Boleyn.
Malisa then married Frank Denny and had other children. Alice
married a
Duby and raised her family near Eldon. Thanks guys. Keep me in
the loop
please.

"Jack (John A. Dick)" <jad(a)chello.be>
In response to the question about "Elijah Dick from SC" ---
I asked one of my friends who is very knowledgeable about the
Dick family in the Carolinas. Here is her response:
"There is a Samuel who was son of William Dick (1735-1810),
and I still don't
know where he went. He was born before 1774 and he
disappeared from Guilford
County between 1800 and 1810. William's 1810 will talks about
him in such a
way that it is obvious that William doesn't know if Samuel was
still alive or
if he had children. He had a wife named Mary in 1788, and
there were no
children recorded for him in the 1800 census when he was
living next-door to
William. He does not show up as a head of household in the
1790 census for
some reason, although he was bondsman for a marriage in 1793.
I don't know
how long Mary lived or whether there could have been a second
wife.
Offhand, I would think that her Samuel from SC would be a
part of the
family of William James Dick (or something like that) who
immigrated into
Charleston from Ireland (Scots-Irish) in the middle 1700's. I
believe there
is a Samuel in that group. There is also a group of Dick's
who were in
Williamsburg County, SC - in NE SC - in the 1700's and 1800's;
and I have
looked at this group as one of my likeliest possibilities as
to the family of
origin for William Dick, as the names in William's family are
also common in
that group, and they were Presbyterian. There are some
postings on the Dick
page of GenForum about two brothers in this group. I believe
there is an Eli
Dick (short for Elijah?) in that group. I believe I have some
further
information in my files about this group, as I am very
interested in them.
Union County is just south of Charlotte in NW SC, and
there was an early
Dick family in Anson County, in the same general area. I've
yet to figure
out where they came from.
As I've said before, there were too many darn Dick family
groups moving
around in the Carolinas."
Hope this helps.

Subject: [KYWOLFE-L] A little more on Wolfe Marriages
The marriages that were posted are from the Minister's return
book. I also
copied from the Marriage Lic/Certficate books, and the dates
do not match, so
I won't post any dates as I had trouble with them when I was
copying them.
Some have three dates, the lic date, cert date and the
minister's return and
sometimes none of them matched. (minister's return and
marriage certfiicate
did not always match) Some had the same date on all three,
guess they didn't
have the three day wait for ARE YOU SURE? Different data was
given for
different years, the early ones only had the couple's names
and the info
increased over the years till now they have the birth date and
complete
mother's name etc. I do want to make a note on the date for
Willie Drake
and Maggie Spencer, I had copied it as March 31, 1915 and the
girls listed it
as April 31, 1915 and I don't think there are 31 days in
April. (Minister
probably got the month wrong) Thanks to Joan and Diane for
their hard work
and thinking about us. Keep them coming.
There are many of these marriages in Wolfe I have no knowledge
of and if
someone has the info, please post it, I would love to have the
missing names
and mother's surnames so I can fill in the many blanks in my
marriage book.
(no not for sale book)

I noticed in RootsWeb that you are quite active in the
research on the Cable
name. Are you a descendent of Casper? While I haven't been
active the past
five or six years, I have accumulated quite a bit of info on
Casper's
descendants. If you are related would like to hear from you.

I have a Samuel Cable, Born: October 15, 1816 in Tennessee (I do not have a county) Died: December 3, 1868 in Camden County, MO. He was married to Elizabeth B. Born: August 7, 1827 in Missouri ( I believe) I do not have a maiden name for her.
Children, David A., Sarah A., Julia E., Martha B., Mary S., and Amanda J.
I don't often see a Cable listed from Tennessee and I wonder if my Samuel may have a connection with this Casper. He would be my G.G.Grandfather

Surname: Cable
-------------------------
Will of CASPER CABEL(sic)
sent by Mrs. W. M. Vaught, Elizabethton.
In the name of God. Amen. I, Casper Cable of Carter County and
State of
Tennessee, farmer, being in perfect health of body and of
perfect mind
and memory, thanks be unto God, calling unto mind the
mortality of my body
and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do
make and ordain
this, my last will and testament, that is to say principally
and first
of all I give and recommend my soul unto the hand of Almighty
God that
gave it, and my body recommended to the earth to be buried in
decent Christian
burial, at the discretion of my executors, nothing doubting
but at the
general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the
mighty power
of God. And as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has
pleased God
to bless me in this life, I give, demise and dispose of the
same in the
following manner and form. First, I give and bequeth to my
dearly beloved
wife, Elizabeth, a double feather bed and two good milk cows,
one pot to
cook in, and to stay and have the command in my household
estate, and one
pewter dish and one basin, four plates, one-half dozen spoons,
and to continue
in the situation where she now is during her widowhood. And,
if at my decease
or after, if a horse there is one to spare out of the estate.
And my son,
Benjamin Cabel, to have fifty acres of land off of the lower
end of my
land; and Joseph Cabel, my son, to have the old plantation,
fifty acres
there; and Daniel, my son, to have, with Coonrad Cabel, fifty
acres of
land, more including the big spring. And for them that holds
the land to
pay to the rest of my sons in proportion to the value of the
land as an
equal divide in the property. And the rest of my household
furniture to
be equally divided with my sons and daughters. And every son a
horse creter
and one cow; and the daughters each a double feather bed and
two cows.
And the remainder of the stock to be divided among the whole
of them and
any other property.
All this I give to my wife and children, and constitute and
make and ordain
Jacob Cabel and John Baker my sole executors of this, my last
will and
testament, and singular my land, mesuages and tenements them
freely to
be possessed and by them to be enjoyed, and I do hereby
utterly disallow,
revoke and disannul every other former testaments, wills,
legacies, bequeths
and executors by me in anywise before named willed and
bequeth. To ratifying
and confirming this and no other to be my last will and
testament, in witness
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 24th of
December, in
the year of our Lord 1807.
Signed, sealed and published.

Hi Larry,
Perhaps you are the person that I communicated with a couple
of years back about the Hardman family. No one is sure at this
time but it is thought that both Jonathan and Sarah Cable are
buried in the older Harris Creek Church of The Bethren Cem. It
is acrost the road from the Church Meetinghouse. That road is
the deviding line between Darke and Miami Counties Ohio. The
old cemetery in maintained but no longer used for burials.
For
a photo of that cemetery and the gravestone inscriptions go
to:
http://www.tdn-net.com/genealogy/cemetery/o-harris.htm
Gale Honeyman and I copied the gravestone inscriptions around
20 years ago, but the photo is only a couple of weeks old. We
have a project going to place photos of all Miami County Ohio
cemeteries on that web page.

Subject: CABLE
I've seen the Cable surname in several postings and hope to
assist and
perhaps gain a little knowledge too. My gg grandmother was
Mary Ann
CABLE Eller of Ohio; and was a Brethren. Here's a small taste
of what I
have on Cable:
HENRY ELLER
......MARY ANN CABLE ELLER.....
excepts from a letter written by Professor W. Arthur Cable (a
direct
decendent of the Cable family via Mary Ann Cable Eller and
back) to T.
Elsberry...
Note: Mr. Cable was a professor at the University of Arizona;
he also
was a genealogist who traveled doing research on the Cable and
Eller
families, along with related families...
On the ancestory of Mary Ann Cable, wife of Henry Eller,
Professor Cable
contributed:
"In 1746 Jacob Gebel (Cable) arrived in this country from
Switzerland. He seemed to have lived in Franklin County,
Pennylvania
where his son Martin was born about 1750.
Martin was married about 1773 in Brudersthal (Brother's
Valley)
Pennylvania in what later became Sommerset County. He married
Christiana
Replay or Ripley; and on her death probably about 27 years
later; he
married Mary ?. To him was born 16 children; four sons and
twelve
daughters.
From 1773 to 1808 he lived respectively, in what later
became
Somerset, Cambria, Blair, Westmore, and again back in Cambria
County. He
was a German Baptist preacher (now the Church of the
Brethren). In about
1808, he moved that portion of his family that still lived at
home to
Perry Township, Montgomery County, Ohio; his older children
including
the oldest son Christian and four daughters remaining in
Pennylvania and
one daughter remaining in Athes County, Ohio, where they had
lived
several years previously. Martin died on his land about eight
miles west
of Dayton on or near November 25, 1811.
The thirteenth child, Martin, was born near Frankstown,
Pennylvania in
the northern part of what is now Blair County, November 15,
1795. In
Montgomery County, Ohio he married Elizabeth Creviston on
March 17,
1817.
They lived on the family land west of Dayton at least
until after
Mary Ann Cable (Eller) was born; then moved up to Miami County
about 25
miles north and bought a farm about a half mile north of where
the
village of Bradford was later established (1861), and lived
there until
early 1850.
In early 1850, this Martin Cable moved his family still at
home to Grant
County, Indiana (note from compiler, J.M. Eller: this gives a
strong
reason for Ellers, including Henry & Mary Ann Eller, John
Eller, ect. to
locate in this area. At one time Henry and Mary Ann had their
children
and grandchildren + living there.) and then soon up to
Sommerset in
Wabash County, the next county north, where he was elected to
the
ministry in the German Baptist Brethren Church and was a
circuit rider.
Martin died August 17, 1861 unusually heavy; his height was
5'6"...."
