Judy,
According to my mother's family album Harriett Filkens(James Franklin Cables)
wife was born in Attica New York so I would imagine that the Cables were from
around that area too, however I am not positive.

Hi list.
Is anyone researching the Samuel Robinson family? I am trying to find the
parents of my Samuel who was born about 1613 in England and died in
Fairfield, Connecticut in 1673. He was married to Constance Cable about 1643
and had at least one son named Samuel born about 1645 in England.
Sure would love to hear from anyone also researching this family.

Hi Mary,
I can't help you with any Cables in Michigan, but I am searching information
on a New York Cable family, my gr-grandfather Albert Cable was born in NY
10Feb1827 and later moved to PA. Do you have this Albert in your NY family?
I'll be happy to exchange info if you do.

I will try this again as I did the first one wrong. I am looking for
information on James Franklin Cable and his uncle Alva Cable who
immigrated from New York state to Beaver Island of the coast of Michigan
in 1838. They set up trading posts there and came back every spring
until settling there sometime in the 1840's or 50's. Thanks for any
help.
Lynne,
Do you have any children for Jacob and Rebecca? And, if so, who are they. I know John H. doesn't
show up in everyone's research...seems to me, some show a younger son Jacob and Rebecca named John
Cable.
Thanks,
Kim

Hello everyone,
My Cable/s ancester was Zebulon Cables born 1735 (location unknown). He
was living in Albany, NY where he married Catrina Showerman in 1781 -
children: Susannah, Elizabeth, Abraham, Lena, Jennet, Margareta,
Zebulon, Cynthia, Nicholas, and Eva. Zebulon was in the Rev. War. The
family lived in Renssalaer County, NY and then moved to Chanango Co.
before 1810 where he died 1838 (dates from his Rev. War pension
record) His descendents later dropped the "s" and spelled the names
Cable.
I don't have any idea where he was born and would like to know if
anyone is familier with this line.
Thanks.

Subject: Re: [HAM] Canadian James Hamilton 1806
A progress report.
In the last year a lot of information has come my way and I have learned a lot more about this GGGrandfather of mine.
Born in Ireland County Cavan on August 11, 1806, immigrated to Canada in 1826, and married Mary Hammond in 1832/33 in Argentuil Quebec, they had eleven Children, Eliza born November 15, 1833, married William Gordon; John, February 08, 1835 married ?; Mary Jane, born January 12, 1837, married Joseph Parker; Joseph, born June 07, 1839, married Lotie Parker; William, born May 07, 1841, married ?; Matthew, born January 17, 1843, married Irene I Pierce widow of E.R.Mayo; Margaret, born December 18, 1845, married William Swale; Sarah Ann, born January 16, 1847, married Richard Evans; James Jr, born December 17, 1849 did not survive to maturity; Isobell, born 1851/2, married Ephreuim Cable; the family moved from Gore Township, Argentuil County Quebec in 1865 to Randborough, Compton County Quebec, many of the Irish settlers of Gore were encouraged in an active campaign to move from the rocky and hilly ground of Gore township to the newly opened areas of Compton County that year.
The only onward connection from this original group is via my GGrandfather Matthew who lived in Johnsville, Compton County Quebec, from 1865 to 1910, when again there was a mass move of family members, this time to the west and Unity Saskatchewan. It is here my Grandfather Hugh settled and where my father Ronald was born and brought up. Hugh's brothers Frank (Francis S. J.) and Justin also moved to this area. I have two of Matthew's sons lines complete Hugh and Justin to the present.
When I started a little over a year ago we had no birthdates for James, his wife, or his children, we did not know his wifes Christian name, and only had 9 of the eleven children listed. We only knew that James and his wife came from Ireland, now we know where, and working on finding our parents for these two and arrival details in Canada.

Just joined the list and hope someone can help me with my Elizabeth Capril/Kable/Cable/Capel (ca 1813 NC) who married John C. Hinson ( born ca 1808 in probably Anson Co. NC). This family moved to Meriwether Co. GA ca 1833 and are found on the 1850 Census there along with 3 Capel families living nearby - Elizabeth (ca 1781 VA) the mother of William Capel (ca 1815 NC) and James (ca 1820 NC). A descendent of these Capels gave information that some moved to Crenshaw AL where the names changed to Caples.
John C. Hinson and Elizabeth had the following children:
1. Francis (1832 NC)
2. Mary A. (1833 GA)
3. Nancy (1836 GA)
4. Julia (1838 GA)
5. Martha (1840 GA)
6. John (1842 GA)
7. Atlas (1846 GA)
8. James (1849 GA)
9. Lucia J. (1850 GA)
10. William Bascom (1854 GA) - IGI says mother is Elizabeth Capril
11. George Washington (1859 AL)-his death certificate says mother was Elizabeth Kable
The family moved from Meriwether Co. GA ca 1855 to Marion Co. AL where there was a large Hinson family and also a Polly Capel. I don't know if these families are related to my Hinson family. By 1870 my family appears in Census records for Lee County MS. The last two sons, William and G. W., end up in Young County TX where they are buried.
This creative spelling of Elizabeth's name poses extra problems and I hope there is someone who may recognize her family or have some clues about where I can look for info.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Researching the Cable family of Guilford and Allemance Counties in N. C. Although many of the given names are the same and they lived in the same general area, the Coble and Cable families are two different families. Both families are of German extraction and both came to N. C. via Pennsylvania. I'm looking for links between the Cable family from N.C. and Pennsylvania. Any help would be appreciated. In addition, would like to know if there are links between the Cable families of the Great Smoky Mountain area and the Cables of Guilford/Allemance which was old Orange County N.C.
Thanks
