Hello everyone. I am the new list administrator. There aren't many of us on
the list right now, so perhaps, by way of introduction, we could do a
mini-roll call and see who everyone's researching and where their research
has led them.
My husband's step-grandfather was John Thomas Cabe (1920 - 1978). My
husband's father chose to take the Cabe surname instead of his biological
father's name. John Thomas was the son of Robert and Pauline Arp Cabe, the
grandson of Samuel Alonzo and Arie Dryman Cabe, the great-grandson of Leander
and Mary Bradley Cabe, the great-great-grandson of Samuel and Martha
McConnell Cabe, the great-great-great-grandson of Zachariah and Sarah Cabe,
and the great-great-great-great-grandson of John Cabe/McCabe, who was the
progenitor of the Western NC Cabe family. Since this is not a biological
line, I do not research it often.
Ironically, my husband is descended from this same family through his
mother's family. John Cabe/McCabe's son, Samuel, had a daughter named
Elizabeth who married George Rogers in 1821 in Haywood Co., NC. My husband is
a direct descendant of their son, Jesse Newton Rogers, who settled in Graham
Co., NC.
Good luck to everyone with their research. If you need have any problems with
the list, please let me know and I will do my best to help you.
Sincerely,
Dawn Watson Cabe
