Walter,
It is a small world, indeed! The son of George William Lafayette CABANISS,
George Marion CABANISS, was a friend of mine when I lived in Fort Smith, AR
(1971-1983). We would often discuss that we just had to be related, but
neither of us had any genealogy work. Well, years later I contacted George
Marion with how I thought we were related. He had been piecing together the
genealogy himself. He provided me with his work and, by golly, I was right!
The line is:
Sanford Cabaniss
William Parks Cabaniss
Andrew J. Cabaniss
George William LaFayette Cabaniss
George Marion Cabaniss
Joe
Before I was interested in genealogy, I went to college with a
CABANISS who
lived in Arkansas. Of course his given name was George and his father's name
was George. George William Lafayette CABANISS was born 7 Nov 1914 (died 4 DEC
1999) in Mineral Springs, Howard County, Arkansas. He was the eldest son of
eight (?) children born to Rev. Andrew Jackson CABANISS and Emma COMPTON. He
thought that he was descended from a Sanford CABANISS.
We thought that we were distant cousins, but we didn't know how. Does any
of these names show up in your line?
Walter
