As some of you will know I do not mind watching a game of Rugby or two. So
a few weeks ago I decided that after the World Cup I will go to Hawaii for
a weeks holiday.
I will arrive on Tuesday 26 November and stay at Lewis Street, Waikiki.
One the Tuesday, I plan to go to the Bishop Museum to find out who the first
Hawaiians got there from Easter Island or the South pacific. I was told it
is quite a good centre.
Wednesday, I have an 8 hour Grand Circle tour of the Island.
Thursday, I think should be Thank Giving Day, so I might go to Diamond Head
and have a look at the view from there.
Friday, I want to go to the USS Missouri and then later go to the Punchbowl
Cemetery (I think it is called) to see if I can find the grave of Charles M
Boyd who was one of those killed aboard the USS Arizona in 1941. I know he
came from Alabama. It would be good to be able to find his family from
Alabama. Hopefully we have an descendant or an nephew or niece on this list
who can tell us where in AL he came from. Although from what I was told in
2001 only about 100 or so bodies were found to be buried. So finding him
may be an difficult task.
As this stage, I have not thought much about the last three days. I do not
think that there are any members of this group in Honolulu, so I may visit
some of the other sights, I would like to see more off, like the big waves
on the west coast.
I will not log off in late November, but will remind members later on that I
will be away.
