Yesterday, I had a private Email from Reese Spicer of Kooskia, Idaho, USA
concerning the father of Abner Boyd (1815-<1880), whom he thought was John
I know the name occurs in two Boyd families. The first is the family of the
late Linda Lawhon and the second is the family of George (1691-1731) and
The one born to George's family, would appear to be too old as he appears to
have been born before 1775 when his sister Elizabeth (Betsy) Boyd said to
have been born and he is listed as being older than her.

While I could not find an Abner Boyd born in 1815 in Linda's family, I did
find an John who MAY FIT the information that Reece has given me.

, and had issue:- ?
Whoever, Linda did not give the children of this John, so I can't match.
The only link is town and County - Flemingburg, Fleming Co where John was
married and this lines up with some of the information that Reese gave me.
"John Boyd was found in 1860, Flemingsburg, Fleming, Kentucky, with the
Abner Boyd family. He is 65 born in Virginia. He is presumed to be Abner's
While Reese went onto say:-
"There is a John J. Boyd that married a Louviana Reeves, Oct. 11, 1849 in
Fleming Co. They also live close to Abner and the other John.He is age 40 in
1860 and I would be led to believe that he is Abner's brother."
This would make this John born in 1820, compared to Abner's birth of 1815.
While Abner married as his second wife, Elizabeth Smoot in 1849, there is
this entry in the KY marriages
BOYD, A. SMOOT, John J. 18 Oct 1852 Morgan Co.
This may be an sister to Abner Boyd.
