In Burke's Landed Gentry, Great Britain, 1952, p 243?, under Boyd formerly
of WESTWARD HO, Devon, England, it lists:-
John Boyd of Ballymacool, Letterkenny, Co Donegal, built the family mansion
at Letterkenny, 1672, born 1640, married Isabella Smith (no details about
her parents), d 6 May 1710.
His eldest son is given as born in 1674, so I would assume that he was
married about 1762 or 1673.
Again there is no mention of any role he may have played in support of
William, Prince of Orange, in defeating he King at the Battle of the Boyne
and at Londonderry.
So if anyone is doing any reading about events in Ireland in the 1680's you
may keep an eye open for any suitable references.
