It may depend on when Nancy died after Joseph's birth. If she was still
feeding him from the breast - it may have required another lady how was
willing to also breast feed him.
So he has gone with the "new" family and the two older children went with

Subject: Re: [BOYD] John Boyd, b c 1805, in Hancock Co. OH 1830
I going to start from scratch with my Boyd info and if anyone can give me
ideas where to head to next I'd appreciate it.
Mike gave me the info that John Boyd looked to belong to David Boyd b. 1770
Lancaster Co. PA m. to Phebe Clark. When I googled this couple I came up
with this site
a Phebe Stewart nee Boyd. This gives Phebe Boyd b. 1827, Findlay, Hancock
Co. OH. to John Boyd and Nancy Spence. This John Boyd was born 1799
Lancaster Co. PA to David Boyd and Phebe Clark. It has John Boyd and Nancy
Spence married in 1826 with three children resulting; Phebe, William and
Joseph. Jospeh was born 1830 Findlay, Hancock Co. OH as per a Lawrence Co.
OH History. William must be the male child in the 10 - 15 age range on the
1830 census, but that calls into question the 1826 marriage for John Boyd
and Nancy Spence/Pence along with the 1829 marriage. Nancy died in 1830
according to this history and about 1831 in Brown's History of Hancock Co.
So if James Boyd b. 1832 Findlay, Hancock Co. OH does belong to this family
why didn't John take him along with the other children when he moved out of
Hancock Co. by 1834? Did John resent James as the possible death of wife
Nancy? (One county history states John became dissipated after his wife's
death.) If James isn't a member of this family who were his parents as there
are no other Boyds in the county to attribute him to?
For those of you who have given me help so far I give a hearty Thank-you and
help has been much appreciated.
