The FASTI is correct. The guesses about the rest is incorrect as a
direct proven tie to Rev. Baptist. Baptist Boyd (FATHER of the Reverend
Baptist Boyd) is in the 1669 Hearth Money Roll for Carrickfergus town. He
has 3 hearths noted which places him above middle class in wealth. The only
other Boyd is a John Boyd- 1 hearth.
IF Baptist came from a previously settled family, the best bet would
be from Glenarm Barony since we have 12 Boyds in that Barony in 1630. There
are no Boyds in 1630 lists for Belfast or Toome Barony. Digging deeper into
Carrickfergus would be the answer to further research on the family.
