It seems that a Boyd family from Kilmaurs, Ayrshire moved to Trenton, New
Jersey, USA at sometime.
It is known that Boyd families settled in New Jersey prior to 1700, but I am
not quite sure from where in Ireland, Scotland or England these Boyd
families came from.
Kilmaurs is a town in the middle of Cunningham lands in Ayrshire, about 3 or
4 kms the NW of Kilmarnock, and it is known that William Boyd, the first
Earl of Kilmarnock married on 25 April 1611, Jean Cunningham, eldest
daughter of William Cunningham, ninth Earl of Glencairn and Lord High
Chancellor. (I think that there were other Boyd - Cunningham marriage prior
to this data as well.)
I would like to start a list of Boyd families that came from Kilmaurs. So
if your Boyd family came form there please tell the list.
