Do you know why Boyds moved to Falkirk, Scotland in the 1500’s?
In recent days, I was given a draft Boyd family tree, showing a number of Boyds who moved
to Falkirk in the late 1500’s. So it would appear that quite a number of Boyd families
lived in Falkirk long before the 4th Earl of Kilmarnock married Ann Livingston, daughter
and heir of James Livingston, fifth Earl of Linlithgow and fourth Earl of Callendar, by
his wife Margaret Hay, younger daughter and sole heir of John Hay, twelfth Earl of Erroll
and Hereditary Lord High Constable on 15 June 1724 and moved to Callendar House Falkirk
So if your family was in Falkirk in the 1600’s please tell the list, so we can start to
see what pieces of the puzzle we have got.
