Some of what you wrote rang some bells, although I have no information on John Boyd
myself. These will just be some ideas of what could be some good research avenues.
Another Boyd cousin sent me this link the other day. There is a John Boyd mentioned in
the list of VA land grants in the KY territory. Place name is Salt River in what was
still a very huge Lincoln Co. (bordered Fayette, Mercer, Madison and Nelson counties),
dated 31 Oct 1780.
Some of my own northeast TN ancestors (born in NC or VA) went to Fayette Co., KY around
1800. Found a John Boyd on this 1783 Greene Co., TN tax list. Greene Co. was the
location of the Nolichucky Settlement, set up before the Rev. War. A lot of settlers came
after the war, those having come from VA, NC and PA.

Subject: [BOYD] Sophia Boyd, b.22 Feb, 1792 Kentucky, USA
Looking for family info on my gr/gr/gr/grandmother, Sophia Boyd. She was born 22
February, 1792, in Kentucky, USA. Maybe Lexington or Fayette Co, KY. She married Peter
Henry Amyx on 27 November, 1812, in FAyette Co, Kentucky, USA. She died 20 Jan, 1882 in
Morgan Co, KY, USA.
Her father's name was John Boyd. I think he was from Virginia. He served in the
Revolutionary War with Matthew Amyx, Jr., Peter's father. Peter was born in North
Carolina, but he served in a unit from Virginia.
