I am currently trying to work out a travel program to meeting Boyds and Boyd
researchers in various US States in October 2010, so I can go to the
Society's AGM or 16 or 17 October.
I am currently booked to fly from Dublin to Boston on Friday 8 October
2010 - arriving at Logan international airport at 4.04 pm on a Aer Lingus
At this stage in my early planning, I would like to go to Maine, Mass and
Conn. Certainly, I will be going to Milford, CT to see Phyllis Rivere, who
is the State Historian for Conn. (Phyllis is wheel chair bound and a young
80 or so) I am not sure of the distance or the time, it will take to travel
from Boston, Portland and back to Milford, CT by bus, train or being driven
or what ever.
But what I now need is to find someone from the list who can help me to see
what is possible to arrange.
So is there anyone on the list that live in these three States?
What I now need to find out if there are Boyds in these areas;
What sort of venue could be booked - what will not cost very much - church
hall, Scot Hall for an unknown number of people;
A suitable inexpensive accommodation for me. (In Scotland and Ireland I
usefully stay in B&B's, so perhaps a motel!!
And at some time to be able to write to local newspapers about my visit and
telling the readers to time, etc I will be at the venue.
Once we get this worked out, I can then work out the PA/MD part of the visit
and the third part of going to GA., SC., NC, and VA
Historical Committee, HBS
