Greetings to the List
I am curious if anyone else has run across people whose
father's/grandfather's changed their name to Boyd, but are not from our
lineage. Two of these people, whom I've met in just the last year, have
the name Boyd.
One family was from Yugoslavia and just decided they liked the name...their
name did begin with a Bo...and Boyd was much easier to pronounce. Last
month I met another fellow whose Danish name was Boye. His father didn't
like being called Boy, so dropped the E and added the D.
I was a little let down not meeting actual clan members, and found this
rather curious...but probably not all that unusual. I'm sure it happened
often at Ellis Island...infact, know it happened to my husband's family just
after the turn of the century... one brother took one name and the other
took another...to honor both mother and father.
