Last week when I was at the LDS Library in Salt Lake City, Utah, I noticed that they had one book on Boyds German.
I did not have time to look at it to see if I could work out if was a Book on a Boyd family or if it only mentioned a Boyd family that might have married into an non-Boyd family.
Does anyone on this list speak or read German? And could they look at the LDS Catalogue to see what this family is about please and where it was located?
There was a second book in another language not English or German, which I also did not have time to look at as well. So could you also look at that book to see what language it is in please and advise the net list so that people are aware of its existence.

I have just got home from 4 weeks in the USA about 2 hours ago.
I will start to go through my Emails and delete the Spam messages – of which there seems to be plenty – and then I can start to look at the Boyd messages and answer them. And the ones that I have not answered before 3 October when I left Australia.
I have just had a quick look at look at my Emails, but there does not seem to be any Emails on the Boyd net list there – from a quick look. I could see some private Emails to me on Boyd families, so I hope to get to these before the weekend.
At the Library at the RI Genealogical Society Library; State Library of NY in Albany, and the LDS Library in Salt lake City, I was able to find a good three years work to do – which over the next few weeks will see me post quite a number of Emails from material that I found.
And for the several people, who helped on this trip I thank you for your assistance to Clan Boyd and to me. I will have to write you a private Emails of thank in a day or so.
At this stage, I would think that I have “found” another 700 or 800 Boyd Family Chapters to go into the Clan Boyd Pyramid. Some will be just a marriage and perhaps one child but others will stretch to some 6 or so generations. I usually only get about 500 Family Chapters from any trip.
While at the LDS Library, I found some additional Boyd books, which do not seem to be very well known. So as I go through my notes, I will have to post that information to the net list.
Remember Folks if you do not post your “brick wall” or your Boyd queries, no one can help to answer your questions or provide advice on where to find data on your family.
The aim is to build ALL OUR KNOWLEDGE ABOUT THE CLAN AND ITS MEMBERS AND THEIR MIGRATIONS.

James Boyd was born circa 1844 in Kentucky -- probably Bath County
or nearby. He married (1) Mary Hannah Trumbo (ca.1840-c1875) on 31
Dec 1857 and had seven children.
After Mary Hannah died, James then married Martha Hunt before 1880.
Martha (Hunt) Boyd was born 5 Oct 1855, and died 1 Apr 1934.
If I have the right James, he appears to have been born between 1837
and 1844 depending on the census --
1850 -- s/o Cyrus -- age 6
1860 -- h/o Mary -- age 26
1870 -- h/o Mary H - age 33
1880 -- h/o Martha -- age 39
Obviously, the ages on the census are off somewhere as he ages
faster sometimes than others. <g>
As I implied, I am unsure as to who were the parents of James. That
is, was James the son Cryus? Or was his father someone else? The
other possibilities include a Richard and William. Or is it someone else>
Can anyone shed any light on this James Boyd?
With me living outside the USA, it is hard to work out in which State might have the most Boyds living in them today .
I assume that the bigger States like Florida, Texas, CA, and perhaps NY and PA will have plenty of Boyd families living in them
However,it is also known that State like South Carolina, Georgia, TN, KY and Ohio also had quite a number of Boyd families – at some time – living in them also.
As I said a few days ago, it seems that many Boyd families moved to Iowa and as Colin Brooks as just said these then moved to surrounding States.
So does anyone have any knowledge of who many Boyd “currently” live in any of the USA States? Anything form the 2000 or 2010 Census would be quite helpful.
I have had this website bookmarked now for a couple of years? I'm sure this is probably old news but it contains a lot of Boyd goodies. The author's email address is included but I have never tried to contact him. This is more or less an epic amount of work on his part and a lot of it is taken from what might be considered primary sources. You could study this for several days and not finish Good luck. Edwin
