Connecticut Boyds and people with Boyds in their background, please be aware
that Mike Boyd, Historic Chairman for the House of Boyd Society, will be in
Milford, Connecticut, October 10. He is on his tour, in Scotland, Ireland
and this country, hoping to meet with as many Boyds as possible.
Connecticut is only one of his many stops while he is in this country. We
hope you will come to Milford to meet and talk with him.
Please contact Phyllis Riviere, Connecticut State Historian for the House of
Phyllis Riviere (Rivieres(a)optonline.net)
Has anybody any information on Mary Boyd who married Robert Finnie in
Stevenston in 1703?
I think that they might be the parents of my William Finnie, who married
Mary Wilson in 1736. William's marriage was registered both in Stevenston
and Largs, and while the Finnie family moved to Kilmarnock from
Constablewood in Largs, I believe that William was born in Stevenston.
Especially as there were Wilsons living at Constablewood.
I'm guessing that this was why the marriage was registered in both places,
since William's 1745 marriage to Ann Boyd was registered in both Ardrossan
(Ann's home at the time) and Kilmarnock. Cheers, Lynne.
Boyd list members, if you live in driving distance of Cumberland County,
PA, you might enjoy coming to the McLain Festival tomorrow in Carlisle. The
weather here is supposed to be wonderful.....in the 70's and no rain. It
is held on the grounds of an old historic stone home on Walnut Bottom Road
and there are many, many tents sponsored by various organizations and much
good food to eat. There are Irish dancers, Celtic bands, Scottish singers,
bag pipers, and typical contests such as the caber toss. I will be working
in the Scottish Society tent from 12:00 'til 2:00 and helping out with the
"Bonnie Knees" contest. I will also leave flyers at this tent about the
meeting with Mike Boyd on Oct. 13. So please drop by and introduce yourself
if you come to the event. It's only $10 (children under 10 are free) and
goes from 9-5 tomorrow, Sept. 4. More info is at:

Mike Boyd will be traveling from Australia to Ireland and on to
America on his trip back home. He will be making several stops as he
crosses America, beginning in New England and ending in California. He
will be in touch and making more announcements on the Boyd list at
Rootsweb with regard to details.
He's hoping to make connections and meet in person with as many Boyds
as possible during his American visit. Now's the time to get your
genealogies together and print a copy for him to take home. He's got
quite a wonderful knowledge of the migration of our Ancestors. If at
all possible, you will want to take this opportunity to meet with him.
