The News-Journal, February 28, 1952
Funeral services for William Andrew Bowles, 59 years of age, were
held Wednesday, February 27, at 1:30 p.m. at the Zion Methodist
Church in Taylor County. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr.
Bowles, son of the late James Andrew Bowles and Mary Elizabeth Coyel
Bowles, was born in Casey County, July 22, 1892 and died at the home
of his sister, Mrs. E. B. Harden near Mannsville, Ky., Tuesday,
February 26 at 3:30 a.m. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. E. B.
Harden, of Taylor County, and Mrs. L. W. Hurt of Adair County; two
nieces and one nephew, Mrs. Wilmer Cowen and Dewey Hurt of Adair
County and Miss Sarah W. Hurt of Nashville, Tennessee.

Pallbearers for W. A. Bowles, whose funeral was held Wednesday,
February 27, were Earl Cox, Ancil Wood, Thomas Cox, Charlie Wright,
Samuel Harden, and Wallace Whitley. Honorary bearers were W. F. Cox,
Elzie McDermott, Bruce Dabney, Onie Bohanon, Clarence Phillips, Kyle
Phillips, Howard Penn, Homer Wright, Omer Bowen, Fletcher Cox and
Charlie Cox. The minister for the funeral services was Rev. Wilbur
