I think there has to be at least two Jerusha Bowles. The Jerusha who is
identified as a daughter of John and Mary was born about 1747. This cannot
be the Jerusha who married Samuel Mosby 1755 because she would have been a
child at the time of the marriage.
I have the following post that places the birthdate of the wife of Samuel
Mosby as between 1710 and 1730. However, this post does connect this earlier
Jerusha to Surry Co. NC:
From web posting by Caroline Loken (Cbloken(a)AOL.com) To BOWLES-L, 11/28/98:
I would be grateful for any information about Jerusha Bowles b. probably
between 1710 and 1730 in VIrginia, d. Surry County North Carolina, m. Samuel
Mosby (b. 1710 VA, d. 1787 NC). I descend from their son, Samuel Mosby, Jr.
b. 1750 in VA m. 4 March 1773 in Goochland County VA to Jean Robards, My
Mosbys apparently stayed in Surry Co. NC for a few generations then moved
through Rutherford Co. TN to Kosciuski, MS.
I don't know how to reconcile these differences. I think there are a lot of
researchers connecting the Jerusha who married Samuel Mosby to the Benjamin
Bowles line in Surry Co. NC, but it doesn't look like the dates work.
