Subject: [MDSTMARY] Ashcomb-Yates-Hawton-Newman
William Battin immigrated in 1652 with wife
Margery's child named Lydia Ashcomb. This makes
Wm born at least in the 1630's maybe the 1620's
and Lydia is on at least her 2nd husband.
Lydia Ashcomb Newman is mentioned in the will of
Wm Battin in 1662 along with her children:
George, William and Margaret. Therefore Lydia
was born around 1642. Her husband George dies in
In 1688 her orphans are mentioned in the will of
Arthur Carr: William, Lydia**, John and George
(Margaret must have died and she gave birth to
Lydia and John since 1662) all of them by name of
Arthur also mentions Edward Smoot who has married
the Newman widow (Lydia Ashcomb Newman Smoot)
Edward Smoot dies in 1707....he married the widow
of John Gee (died 1684) so Lydia is Lydia Ashcomb
Newman Gee Smoot. But then in 1707 Gerard O'Cane
marries the widow of Edward Smoot - Lydia Ashcomb
Newman Gee Smoot O'Cane.
Robt Yates marries Rebecca Bowles and has sons
Robt and Charles by 1692. Robert then marries
Lydia Ashcomb Newman Gee Smoot O'Cane. Lydia
Ashcomb Newman Gee Smoot O'Cane Yates dies in
