Subject: [WILBURN-L] Wilburns and Pocahontas
I recently discovered a Pocahontas genforum and also a website. Some
Wilburns are indeed descendants of Pocahontas.
Names are already recorded in one resouce book. I have forgotten the
title...but did poke though a maasive volume years ago. At best I recall
Wilburns from TX were noted as descendants....how???? Don't know.
What this means is that some Wilburn families married into descendants of
Pocahontas and then their children became descendants.
There must be hundreds of thousands of her descendants today. (My
non-professional opinion here.)
The Pocahontas archieves notes approximately 120 surnames as being
(possible) links to Pocahontas...
I culled through this rather short list and will now note the surnames that
were allied with Wilburns ...
If any of these names are known in your gen findings you might wish to
check this out....And you might wish to check this out even if I fail to
note a family surname...(I only have a random small sampling here)..And am
merely sharing what little I do know.
Most of these are pretty common names......Still, if you have found these
surnames in your ancestoral lines during the colonial period, you might
find this website of real interest.
11. EGGLESTON........RICHARD EGGLESTON WILBURN...WHO WAS WITH STONEWALL
JACKSON WHEN HE FELL
If anyone is interested in checking further...log on to Pocahontas genform
and go from there.
Keep in mind that I remain computer stupid.
