Subject: [EVANS-RICHARD] Richard Evans - Elizabeth Hall - Dr. Kingsbury
Some time ago, perhaps as much as a year and a half back, there was a conversation
regarding Richard Evans (1703 deceased), Elizabeth (Hall) Evans and Dr. James Kingsbury,
in connection with the guardianship of Richard's children, their ages, along with
other issues. I still have the email exchange and can look it up if anyone is interested
in the original conversation.
One of the many things I find so frustrating about research is my own inadequacies. I
have had the material below for many years and have to confess I did not put down the
actual source of the material (or it got lost in the digital maze) but feel sure it came
from record repositories in Baltimore, MD. of which many were published in the Maryland
Historical Magazine. I have gathered many of these, little tidbits about our family in
those early days. Anyway, while reviewing my material I suddenly took note that the
material below clearly gives us a date by which Elizabeth (Hall) Evans remarried to Dr.
James Kingsbury and that is 28 April 1705.
Several things become evident by this revelation. Elizabeth (Hall) Evans Kingsbury would
not have petitioned the court as Elizabeth Evans in 1714 since she has been Elizabeth
Kingsbury for at least 9 years. Unfortunately, this does not resolve the many other
issues surrounding this family but leaves us with two indisputable facts, the guardianship
took place in 1704 instead of 1714, or the Elizabeth Evans that petitioned the court was
some other Elizabeth Evans and that our Elizabeth married Dr. James Kingsbury before 28

This information gives validity to the James Kingsbury Jr. and John Kingsbury as sons of
Dr. James Kingsbury and Elizabeth (Hall) Evans Kingsbury because they would most likely
have been reaching the age of maturity when the Evans property was assigned to them.
Another thought to consider would be this, if we are close on the birth year of Elizabeth
(Hall) at 1673, she would have been 41 in 1714 and a marriage to Dr. James Kingsbury after
that surely would not have produced any children.
Thoughts to ponder along with some glimmer of light. Don
