Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. from the Spurlington
Methodist Church for James E. Harmon, who died at the University
Medical Center Hospital, in Lexington, of acute leukemia Wednesday,
September 9. Services were in charge of Rev. Travis Keltner and Rev.
J. B. Hargrove. Burial was in Spurlington Methodist Church Cemetery.
James, 18 years of age, had been ill for several months. He dropped
out of junior year in high school due to illness. He was the son of
Lela Shipp and Eugene Harmon and lived in the Spurlington community.
Besides his parents, he is survived by one brother, George Robert
"Bobby" Harmon, Taylor County; two sisters, Mrs. Calvin (Doris)
McFall, Rt. 2, and Mrs. Allen (Betty) Tungate, Lebanon; and
grandfather, Charlie Shipp, Campbellsville. Pallbearers were Michael
Cox, Danny Harrison, Bobby Rogers, V. K. Bowles, Donald Brockman,
Junior Brockman, and Jodie Routin.
