Robert O'Rear vs. Jermish combs F. 24 May 1837, a runaway slave, was
captured in Perry Co., Ky. by deputy sheriff, Henry Duff (Henry now
lives in Johnson Co. State of Missouri.) on 13 June 1829. Henry Duff
gave the following description of Henry the slave: age; 35-40; 5ft.
10 in.; 145-160 lbs.; Light black; walked with a stoop and grayed
haired. They kept Henry in jail for some time. Later sold to Jeremiah
Combs. Trial was changed from Perry to Morgan then to Estill Co., Ky.

by John W. Moore Sheriff to inquire whether Almeda Bennette be idiot,
lunatic, etc. Jury were: George Shedfield, Ealz Fergson, David
Haggard, John Tipton, Richard Stevens, Samuel Plummer, Jess Robinson,
William Wiseman, Morris Ems, John W. Reynolds, James Best & Bowles
Harris. The jury verdict was that Bennett is an idiot and has no
estate 21 Apr. 1835.

Jackson Gilbert wrote to Bullock a note 15 Apr. 1839 for 30 acres on

Gilbert gave no title. Fox entered and forced Bullock out.
C.W. vs. Joshus Mize F. 10 Sept. 1838 Charge assault on Susan
Broughton. Struck with a stone. Wit. William Tungate.

Samuel Plummer, Sr. william Meadows was tenant in possession.
Eliaz Tungate vs. C.W. F. 29 Apr. 1839. Case dismissed.
C.W. vs. Henry Beatty Charge forgery and counterfeit. Wits. were:

Samuel Kelly (deputy sheriff) 18 July 1838.
Hiram Mcguire vs. Jeptha D. Crawford N. $100.00 F. 7 Oct. 1840. Court
Ryan Richardson vs. Elias Tungate F. 18 Mar. 1839. John Elliedge sold
to Elias Tungate a lot and 1/2 at Irvine for $1,000.00. Tungate
claims that half had been paid for $500.00. Elliedge sold the note to
John S. Pigg on 4 Oct. 1836. Pigg sold it to Ryan Richardson 10 Feb.
1838. Tungate had sold 8 ft. of the land to James Campbell. Lewis
Moore was the highest bidder. Later William P. Noland bought the
ground for $80.00.

Jacob Swigert vs. Bill S. Kelly, Sr. F. 17 July 1840. In 1837-8
Swigert Clerk of the Court of Appeals of Ky. levied and collected by
Kelly Jr., debts $78.15, it should have been $103.00. Samuel Kelly
claimed to have lost debts or taxes he was to collect. Named as def.
were: Abner W. Quinn, Joseph Wilson, James Black, Jeptha D. Crawford
and John B. Powell, May 1840. Jacob Swigert found the receipts on the
def. 11 Aug. 1840. List of men and amount owed. Judge wrote a note at
